Welcome to the Fortress Mint “Simple NFT Project” tutorial. In this tutorial, we’ll cover how to mint an NFT using a simple NFT project and the differences between a simple and an advanced NFT project.
You’ll find yourself on the All NFT Projects page upon login. Create a new NFT project by clicking the top right button labeled “+ NFT project” or the center button “+ Create NFT project.”
Next, select the Simple NFT project type.
The biggest difference between the project types is that an advanced project allows you to edit and customize individual NFTs in the project. A simple project contains copies of tokens with the same data, while an advanced project contains tokens that can each have unique or customized data. You’ll need to create new projects for each different NFT with simple projects. No further editing will be possible on the individual tokens.
On the left side of the following screen, you’ll see a preview of the NFTs.
To the right, you’ll see a place to upload your file and fields for the NFT details.
After inputting all of your details, it should look something like this:
Click next when you’re satisfied with the NFT details and graphic. On the next screen, you may add private content (that only the receiver can see), select a royalty address if you’d like to receive royalties for sales, and select the blockchain (the default is Polygon).
For example, click to expand the sections for private content or a royalty address, then add the files or information.
After doing so, your screen should look something like the example below. In this example, we’re creating tickets for sale, in which the private content is the actual ticket to scan for entry. Additionally, we added a royalty address so 5% of sales will go to the wallet address shown.
Click next to go to the final page, the Review & Mint screen. Review your NFT to ensure all information is correct, and provide the wallet you’d like to send these NFTs to. Ensure the wallet address you enter is a wallet that supports NFTs on the blockchain selected earlier. For example, you'll need to use a Polygon wallet address for a Polygon NFT.
After the final review, you have two options. You can mint the NFT to send it to the wallet address or save and exit. When creating collections of many different NFTs, you may create multiple projects before starting to mint.
Keep in mind, edits for simple NFT projects affect all NFTs in the project. You can’t edit individual NFTs in the project. For example, you can't add private content to one ticket NFT out of the 100 you mint.
After reviewing and finalizing, you’ll notice your project now has NFTs! They’ll either be minting (if still pending on the blockchain), minted (if successfully processed), or saved as a draft if you’re waiting until later.
There are a few additional options during the flow that we want to call out. When saving the project as a draft, you can mint only a portion of the collection at a time. You don’t need to mint all tokens if you don’t want to.
Additionally, you can create multiple simple NFT projects for tiers of NFTs (e.g. silver, gold, & platinum). Each tier would be represented by a separate simple NFT project.
